What’s for breakfast? It’s no secret that I love peanut butter. If you go way back to my 5 Facts About Me post, it was one of my facts! To this day I am still obsessed with making this healthy peanut butter banana toast recipe which I will be sharing in this post. A healthy and filling breakfast is an important part of my morning routine. When looking for a quick, easy breakfast idea, this is one of my favorite things to make and you probably already have all or most of the ingredients.
Peanut butter banana toast is a great choice for those on the go or a healthy breakfast alternative for kids in the morning. With that said, I know you’re hungry so let’s dive right in!
Ingredients:
First up is the bread. I love Ezekiel bread or any kind of oat nut bread. You want to make sure the bread is pretty well toasted so it can hold all the delicious toppings you are going to be putting on.
Next, we have to talk about peanut butter. I used to be a regular buyer of Skippy or Jiff but in the past few years, I switched to all-natural peanut butter (peanuts & salt are the only ingredients). This one from Costco is great! If you aren’t into peanut butter, any kind of nut butter will work for this.
Toppings Toppings
Now for all the toppings! These are my favorite toppings, but there are endless amounts of things you could try including different kinds of fruit or seeds.
Bananas– Bananas provide us with energy and power our brains so it’s a perfect thing to have in the morning to get your day started!
Honey– This makes this toast sweet and is a delicious healthier alternative to sugar.
Cinnamon– Cinnamon is full of antioxidants, is anti-inflammatory, and helps reduce blood sugar levels.
Chia seeds– Chia seeds are high in vitamins and minerals and keep you full because they expand once they come in contact with water. (Click here to check out how to make chia seed pudding!)
How to Make:
This recipe is very simple to make. First, you want to toast your bread and spread on some peanut butter. Then, slice up some bananas, and put them on the toast. Next, add your toppings. I like to add the honey first so everything sticks to the bananas. Lastly, sprinkle on the cinnamon and chia seeds.
